Invent + Discover is a small, independent guide to what people in Mumbai are making with technology, and where you can go to join them.

What you'll find here

• Discover: AI, design, XR and startup events around Mumbai. Every listing is checked against the organiser's own page on Luma, Meetup or AllEvents before it appears, and the list is refreshed every morning. You always register on the organiser's page, never through us.
• Invent: short demos of products and projects, especially from students and first-time builders.
• Insights: longer writing on design, immersive media and technology, plus a short daily digest of AI and tech news.
• Communities: the meetup groups and collectives that keep Mumbai's tech scene going between events.

Why it exists

Good events in Mumbai are scattered across a dozen platforms and WhatsApp groups, and the people who would get the most from them, students especially, often hear about them a day late. Invent + Discover puts them in one place, checked and dated, so the only question left is which one to go to.

Who collates it

I'm Mohit Bhardwaj, a design educator based in Mumbai. I've spent more than 20 years in design. The first 11 were in craft and trade: designing hand-embroidered garments and leather accessories. Since then I've taught human-machine interaction, UX, immersive media, product and service design, and futures and speculative design.

I'm a PhD researcher, studying how cultural nuances shape virtual reality games. I have spent time with universities in Europe and the US.

From screens to spaces, I explore how AI can turn music, origami, and imagination into immersive experiences.

How we choose what to list

• It has to be in or around Mumbai (or online and useful to people here), and about technology, design or building something.
• It has to have a real, public page from the organiser, with a date and a way to register.
• Nobody pays to be listed. If that ever changes for a feature or review, it will be labelled clearly on the page.
• Something wrong or missing? Tell us and it's usually fixed the same day.
