Festival season just began and ecommerce giants are ready to offer unbelievable discounts. We saw Amazon, Flipkart and Paytm going over the top to lure customers. The prices seemed so affordable and products usable. So how far did they go…
Well your day is surely made if you get a personalised mail by Mr. Bachchan greeting you and urging you to buy on Flipkart. Is this going to pull users towards a particular portal, the sales figures for the big billion days are yet to be out… so lets wait and watch!

Fact of the matter is – should we focus on a good UX design, where product search is easy and user experience is much easier or these gimmicks will steal the show.

I like Flipkart’s palette on usual days but for a festive buying Amazon had a better appeal, Paytm was somewhere in between. As you moved towards bottom of the page white-on-white layout both for Paytm and Flipkart looked less attractive as compared to Amazon‘s background color gradually progressing to lighter grey. Grid display of product categories on Amazon again stood out.
What motivates the user….. a brand ambassador or a good UX?
