Fueling Innovation: Key Learnings from the University of San Francisco (USF) Immersion

Meeting John C. Coughlan

The second half of our intensive day in San Francisco on October 9th, as part of the ATLAS SkillTech University Faculty Immersion Program, was dedicated to exploring the forward-thinking approach of the University of San Francisco (USF). This visit provided critical insights into integrating modern technology with entrepreneurial and creative education.

The Confluence of AI and Experiential Learning

Our discussions with USF faculty focused heavily on their commitment to fostering entrepreneurial leadership through hands-on, practical application. Two areas stood out:

  1. Amplify AI Initiative: We learned about this initiative which focuses on encouraging students to apply Artificial Intelligence within practical, impact-driven projects. This hands-on approach to AI, rather than just theoretical instruction, is an invaluable mode.
  2. Mentorship and Network: USF’s emphasis on smaller class sizes and mentorship-driven learning, powerfully leveraged by the Bay Area’s vibrant network, highlights the importance of personalized, industry-connected education.

Our deep appreciation goes to John Coughlan (MS Entrepreneurship & Innovation), Frank Fletcher (MBA Programs), and Richard Stackman (Associate Dean) for their time and insightful reflections on fostering student-led innovation and the future of business education.

Thank you, ATLAS SkillTech University, for the vision and opportunity to participate in this impactful program.
