Music Inc. 2, Annual Music Conference (Mumbai)

Music Inc. 2 (2019) offered a huge range of speakers who came from different walks of life. There were entrepreneurs, CEOs, Texperts, singers, musicians and artists.

Ruchay Shukla with Tony Kakkar, Manoj Dawane, Anita Nayyar and Gautam Raj

The talks/discussions varied from enabling local artists with sufficient resources for promotions to how modern India is watching music (than listening). Interestingly Spotify, Sony Music India, Times Music spoke the current reality music industry faces i.e. music piracy, changing music trends amongst India’s humongous users. Music Inc. is a great initiative, as most of the times we just hear that a particular industry is unorganised and that’s all. Nobody does anything about it.

While the talks were interesting and pertinent, a very important ingredient seemed to be missing.

Obviously digital is the way forward, so why do we turn partially blind towards user experience? Most of the industries including fintechs and edutechs have realised this and we have seen dramatic changes. Humans have a great appetite for music, user experience needs to be given required attention.

Rajeev Masand & Raftaar

Yes, Raftaar’s musical journey was very inspiring. He speaks from his heart, we respect that. Dharavi Dream Project showcased the real gully talent.

It was a stellar gathering during this 2-day event. Many thanks to organisers, looking forward for next edition.
